Study Ranks Ford Equity Research Top-Performing Stock Selection Provider

San Diego, CA, March 23, 2006 – Ford Equity Research, a leading independent investment research firm, has been ranked number one in a study of the top-performing research providers in the April 2006 issue of Kiplinger’s Magazine.

The study, conducted for Kiplinger’s by Investars, a New York-based company that specializes in the analysis of stock research providers, places Ford Equity Research at the top of a list of companies that includes Standard and Poors, Raymond James, Wachovia Securities, Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch.

“Over its 35 year history, Ford Equity Research has built on its vision of becoming the leading independent equity research firm as measured by its ability to help its clients achieve superior investment performance,” said Tim Alward, President and CEO of Ford Equity Research. “Recent independent evaluation of the performance of Ford’s stock ratings demonstrates our commitment to realizing that vision.”

Ford Equity’s strategy is unique among independent investment firms. It combines timely, accurate collection of data with the development and implementation of successful stock selection models and decision making tools to give a comprehensive understanding of the drivers of equity performance.

Since becoming part of Mergent, Inc.’s Equity Business Unit in 2004, Ford’s vision remains, but has broadened in its strategy. The acquisition has provided Ford with substantial data collection scale, an increasingly important advantage in the competitive equity research market. With Mergent’s wealth of global fundamental, corporate action and pricing data, Ford Equity is focused on improving its domestic research by adding line item financial statement data and analysis. In addition, investment research on American Depositary Receipts and China will be released later this year, followed by enhanced global research offerings in 2007.

Ford will also be complementing Mergent’s Index Group, which has licensed a series of indices and Exchange Traded Funds based on Mergent’s Dividend Achievers.
